Cogeneration represent a real time method of reducing energy costs with fuel efficiency as high as 80-85 % , cogeneration is a logical contribution to improved industrial productivity.

The wide spread for cogeneration application, particularly for hotels, hospitals, and industrial facilities, has been considered for its own economic merits and reduced operating costs, and for USA and many countries in the world it was mainly for its fuel efficiency,

Electric Utilities, also not universally pleased with the rules of the cogeneration, they appreciate the opportunity to add capacity without capital investment. In some cases they even participating on a joint venture investment basis.

SSI Has Been Involved in the Following Cogeneration Facilities 

  • 1.1 MW gas turbine-based cogeneration plant, with 500 tons absorption chiller, LOWES Hotel Santa Monica, CA.

  • 0.8 MW gas turbine-based cogeneration plant for Hotel Del Coronado, Coronado Island, CA

  • 1.2 MW cogeneration facility, with 600 tons absorption chiller, St. John’s Hospital, Santa Monica, CA

  • 11.3 MW combines cycle cogeneration with 3000 tons hot water absorption chillers, Brea Data Center Main Frame Computers, Bank of America, Brea, CA

  • 7.5 MW back pressure steam turbine type cogeneration facility, convention type, with 4800 tons steam absorption chillers, Santa Monica Hospital, CA

  • Finance-Own and Operate (BOOT-JV) for 12 years, 2.5 MW gas engines- based cogeneration with 1000 tons steam absorption chillers, Saving Energy Performance Contract (SEPC-DOE), SSI performed the design and obtained the environmental permits, US Navy, Long Beach, CA

  • 25 MW combined cycle cogeneration based on GE- LM 2500, Federal Paper Co, city of Industry, CA.*

  • 8 MW with 4800 tons abs. chillers, American University of Irag, Cogeneration Facility, Dar El Handasa

  • California Energy Commission contract to SSI to perform detailed feasibility Studies for cogeneration facilities utilizing existing system of “Coal-bed Methane Gas” in Katowiska, Poland.
