BioMass & Renewable Energy
SuperSystems Creative Project: As we engineer one biomass facility after the other in California and Oregon, and as we have been involved from one seawater desalination technology to another, either the well known Multi Stage Flash (MSF), The Multi Effect Distillation (MED) or the Reverse Osmosis (RO), SSI in 1998 came up with the creative idea and conceptual design of utilizing renewable fuels such as biomass, forest residual, wood waste and shredded tires to generate power and desalinate seawater simultaneously. SSI published the first world wide paper on the technology and the economy of producing electricity and desalinated seawater from renewable fuels in a conference in Madrid, Spain. We later performed detailed feasibility studies on this subject. At the present time we were contacted by few clients to review the size, economy and price of KWH and Cu Mt of desalinated water for the already available amount of biomass and wood waste. To minimize the emission of co2 and co as well as the particulate, SuperSystems would employ the fluidized bed boiler technology. In the difficult environmental regulation of the State of California, this technology were permitted after including electro-Static- Precipitator or wet scrubber at the back end before before the facility main stack. A back pressure or extraction pressure steam turbine would be included for a cogeneration application
Producing “ KWH & Drinking Water, Steam and Hot Water and also Chilled Water” from these mountains’ wood waste , and from next door valleys agriculture & wood waste , as fuel, to power a combined power seawater desalination.
SSI creative project - its time has come.
